Erasmus+ · Adult education
A friendly guide to Erasmus+ for adult educators.
WINGS+ is funded by Erasmus+. This page explains, in plain English, what the programme offers in the adult-education field, who can apply, and how to find your first project partners.
What is Erasmus+ Adult Education?
Erasmus+ is the European Union's programme for education, training, youth and sport. Its Adult Education strand (sometimes labelled "ADU") supports any kind of non-vocational learning for adults — civic, basic, digital, cultural — delivered by NGOs, public bodies, universities of the third age, libraries, community centres and many more.
Two main routes
Mobility for adult-education staff and learners
Send your educators or your learners abroad for training courses, job shadowings or teaching assignments in another European country. Short, practical, transformative.
Cooperation partnerships (like WINGS+)
Team up with 2 – 6 organisations across Europe to co-create new methods, tools or guidelines. KA220-ADU is the action that funds WINGS+ itself.
Priorities you can build a project around
Inclusion & diversity
Reach learners often left out, including older women, migrants and rural communities.
Digital transformation
Build digital skills and inclusive online learning.
Green transition
Embed climate and sustainability in adult learning.
Participation & civic life
Strengthen democratic and civic engagement of adults.
Who can apply?
- Public bodies (municipalities, district governorships, regional authorities)
- Non-profits, NGOs and associations active in adult learning
- Adult-education centres, evening schools, Volkshochschulen, U3As
- Libraries, museums and cultural organisations
- Universities and research institutions (in their adult-learning role)
- Foundations and social enterprises with an educational mission
How does the money work?
KA220-ADU projects are funded through a system of lump sums linked to predefined work packages — not a line-by-line budget. This page intentionally does not show grant figures: WINGS+ focuses on the content of the work, not the accounting.
